The American Club Resort Hotel (1918)
Kohler, Wisconsin

The American Club Resort Hotel is a five-star, five-diamond hotel that has stood as an icon of gracious hospitality for over 100 years.

Dear Historic Hoteliers:

Over 100 years ago Walter Kohler had an extraordinary vision to build a dormitory for immigrant workers so they would have a place to live while working in the Kohler Co. factory.  The American Club became more than just a place to live, it helped immigrants assimilate to American life by providing opportunities to take English classes, save money in order to purchase a home and build camaraderie with co-workers.

This building became a special place to many, and a centerpiece in the community.  By the 1970’s the building was no longer used as a dormitory, but Herbert V. Kohler Jr. envisioned that it could once again become a special place for visitors and guests.  So, in true Kohler fashion he relentlessly worked to win the board’s approval to turn the once dormitory intto the luxury hotel it is today.

Today, The American Club has proved to be one of the great American destinations.  We are hoping you can join us November 8 – 12, 2021 in Kohler for the Historic Hotels Annual Conference.

We look forward to serving you with the luxury we are known for across the globe and be sure to watch for us on TV as the host of the 2020 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits from September 24 – 26, 2021.

Sincerely,

Christine L. Loose
